Row Hard for Neuro-disability is a fantastic event for busy city workers who just don’t have time to train for a marathon. Whilst rowing 2k at speed as a team is no mean feat, it doesn’t require unattainable levels of fitness! Prizes will be given to the fastest all-male team, the fastest mixed team, and the fastest all-ladies team. Additionally, a fantastic prize will be given to the highest fundraising team.
Whilst the venue of our launch event in 2010 (HMS Belfast) was great fun, it simply wasn’t big enough to accommodate the number of teams interested in taking part. When 2011 came around we knew we needed somewhere bigger and slicker, but still centrally located, so we opted for the top floor of City Hall (otherwise known as ‘London’s Living Room’) which worked out so fantastically we’re going back again in 2012.
With gorgeous panoramic views across London and over Tower Bridge, this venue really couldn’t be better. We're hoping for a warm evening, so we can take our food and drinks out onto the brilliantly spacious balcony after the competition to enjoy the views.
Event registration will begin at 18.30, allowing sufficient time for teams to meet and warm up before heats start at 19.15. Teams will be given their competition time and heat number, with 6 teams rowing in each 10 minute heat. The crowds will be able to see the progression of the races on the plasma screens dotted around the Living Room, and cheering is obligatory. You will all be rowing 2000m in relay, so 500m each, but don’t be complacent because though you may row fast, you may lose time on changeovers – it’s all about being slick and quick. For competition timings please see the panel to the right, and remember you will find out your heat number on the evening.

Of course the rowing is the main spectacle, there’s no denying that, but we want you to let your hair down too, so there will be music, food and drink to enjoy after the competition, all included in the ticket price. There’s also no denying it’s a charity event, and what fundraiser would be complete without a raffle and an auction?! We’ll have some fantastic prizes and lots up for grabs, so come with your cheque books, or at least enough money for a raffle ticket!
Prize-giving will take place once everyone has had a chance to fully recover from their exertions, and the event will close between 22.00 and 22.30
Don’t let the idea of fundraising put you off taking part – the target is much lower than other similar events, and is easily achievable individually, let alone as a group! Aim for £500 and see if your employer will double it! Most fundraisers find that they are surprised by the support they’re given and usually easily surpass their targets without even trying! Nevertheless, we’re on hand to help with any aspect of your fundraising and will give you lots of new, fresh ideas to help get your friends and colleagues on-board.
